The Sovereignty Movement is energetically preparing to hold the 4th Sovereignty Youth convention. Hundreds of youths from all parts of the Land along with public figures, spiritual leaders and people of action will call for the increased centrality of Jerusalem in the life of the People of Israel.
Preparations are underway in the Sovereignty Movement for Sovereignty Youth’s fourth annual convention, which is expected to take place in the Beit Orot compound on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem on Thursday, the 10th of Sivan (June 9th).
The movement expects hundreds of youths from all parts of the Land to participate, who will hear remarks by public figures, politicians and spiritual leaders.
The call to emanate from the convention is expected to be addressed to the government of Israel with the demand that it stand strong against both external and internal pressures seeking to harm Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem.
At the convention, the Sovereignty Movement and Sovereignty Youth will call for the expansion of Jerusalem’s municipal borders, to turn it into a metropolis.
The movement is promoting the Greater Jerusalem initiative, on which its people have been working lately, calling for Jerusalem to extend its current borders to include Ma’ale Adumim, Giv’at Ze’ev and some of the towns of Binyamin, Gush Etzion and Mevaserret Zion.
With this initiative, the Sovereignty Movement seeks to provide an answer to the demographic problem threatening the Jewish future of Israel’s capital, while establishing Jerusalem as a central metropolis in the heart of Israel that includes the Israeli governmental, economic, spiritual and industrial centers.
The movement finds special importance in holding the congress precisely at the spot that overlooks the entire city, as an expression of the living connection between the younger generation, the next link in the chain implementing the Zionist vision, and Jerusalem in all of its parts.
“Sovereignty Youth has demonstrated and continues to demonstrate its deep understanding of its historic role at this time. The Sovereignty Youth must stand at the head of the camp in order to mark the goals that practical Zionism must lead us, which is Israeli sovereignty and governance over the entire Land and promoting Jerusalem to be leading capital among the capitals of the world”, say Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, the co-chairwomen of the Sovereignty Movement.
According to them, the youths’ mobilization in leading the conference is impressive and uplifting. “The Sovereignty Youth succeeds again and again to excite people and bring a fresh spirit to the Zionist vision calling for Israeli sovereignty and independence. We have no doubt that the next generation of leaders are among the members of Sovereignty Youth and this is powerfully expressed by the conventions, the conferences, learning seminars and ongoing activities of the members of the movement in the various branches spread out over the Land”.
Katsover and Matar thank the many supporters who have volunteered to contribute in order to hold the conference. “We are at the height of a revolution of consciousness that the People of Israel and the State of Israel are undergoing. The discourse of withdrawals has receded and the discourse of sovereignty is increasing among the people. Those who are responsible for this change are the many supporters, activists and contributors who have worked to bring about such events as the Sovereignty Youth conference. We, and history, thank each and every one of them”
