The vision of sovereignty comes to the B’nei Akiva movement, which will hold a discussion on the matter at the upcoming Policy Conference.
At the upcoming Policy Conference of the B’nei Akiva movement, among other things, the vision of Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria will be discussed as well as the movement’s attitude regarding this vision.
In an interview with the newsletter Besheva, Yair Shahal, Secretary General of the movement, mentioned that the movement intends to discuss the subject. Shahal was asked if a youth movement, which seeks to prepare the religious Zionist youth in general and perhaps beyond this, can also deal with subjects such as sovereignty in Judea and Samaria.
Shahal responded that the B’nei Akiva movement is a youth movement and as such, it should have something to say in various fields and matters. However, these statements must be broad enough to provide room for the minority that does not hold the opinion of the majority. He says that within a large movement we cannot an expect that everyone will agree on one hundred percent of things, but it is appropriate and correct to speak about the 95 percent of matters that people do agree on.
Regarding the topic of sovereignty in particular, Shahal said that in the upcoming conference this topic would be discussed as well. He himself, he says, does not know what will be decided in the conference regarding the movement’s position on sovereignty, but it might very well happen that the position that will be adopted will not be acceptable to a minority within the movement.
Shahal also noted that in the matter of Judea and Samaria, in recent years there have been tours and trips in Gush Etzion, in the Jordan Valley and in the area of Binyamin. This is done in order to provide the members and the counselors with a close familiarity with these areas.
