Dear friends,
Happy Independence Day.

Open your eyes and take a look around, and you will see the countless achievements that the People of Israel has made in its 73-year-old state. While in the past, the peoples of the world were amazed by the State of Israel’s victories in the battlefield, later they were also amazed by the inventiveness, technology and developments that have come out of Zion, and they are still amazed now, by the State of Israel’s miraculous victory over the Corona pandemic.

73 years of realizing the vision, step by step. A nation is formed and gathers in its land, brings her children from the four corners of the Earth, revives its language and its culture, stands strong against those who seek to do evil and overcomes them, establishes a democratic regime and a system of law enforcement, sets up a strong economy that succeeds even in times of turbulence and crisis, paves roads and builds cities, forges diplomatic and political ties and sheds light and goodness on the entire world. Indeed, we are living in the heart of a miracle and in these times, it seems, we are also receiving subtle allusions to all the quiet miracles that are happening under the leadership of the young state, and we may never know all that her secret emissaries have done, who dedicate themselves to performing secret security operations in every corner of the globe, even, and especially, in enemy lands.

We must thank the Almighty for all of this and for the faithful emissaries that He has sent, the leaders of Israel, her defense forces and those who lead the flourishing of the People in its Land.

Building another storey

While the impressive material aspect of building the Land of Israel continues to progress, we are also in the midst of building the spiritual aspect of the state that is based upon it. This is how we must view the disputes over values that fill the public venue in Israel.

Questions of identity and meaning, matters of conversion and Judaism, disputes over law and democracy, discussions concerning minorities and immigrants, etc., etc. All of these are but part of the building and designing of the State of Israel’s ideological-spiritual level. If we can manage to conduct all of those discussions and disputes in an honorable, friendly way, we will also see this increasing polarization as part of the internal clarification of a People resurrected in its Land.

During this turbulent and critical period of building the values of the State of Israel, it is incumbent upon those who love the Land of Israel to unite and bond together with an orderly and united approach, leave behind petty and trivial battles and carry together the banner of values and the vision of the Land of Israel camp vis-à-vis those who oppose it. Engaging in those petty, trivial and debilitating personal battles will leave us exposed to only one way, the way of the camp of shameful concessions and withdrawals from the People of Israel’s only Land.

A lie wrapped in cellophane

In the spirit of the previous paragraph, we again warn against the delusional idea of establishing a right-wing government that relies and is dependent on the support of Arab members of Knesset whose entire purpose as public emissaries is to nullify the Jewish identity of the State of Israel and establish a state of all its citizens, which would be the de facto end of the Zionist vision.

There are those who attempt to wrap this idea in the cellophane wrapper of a “right-wing government”, but all reasonable people know that such a government would not be a right-wing government, but a compromised government held by its throat by those who wish it evil. A government that depends on Arab votes will not promote the values of settlement and its normalization, the sovereignty of Judea and Samaria, Jewish identity, reforming the justice system, strong military response to the Arab enemy in Gaza or in Judea and Samaria, the correct diplomatic responses to attacks by the Hague and European capitals, its stance vis-à-vis demands for concessions coming from the Biden administration, etc. Instead of progress for Zionism and Judaism in all of these matters, it would be, Heaven forbid, a mortal blow. They will be pushed backward, while the opposing camp knows well how to promote its world-view, by taking advantage of that same “right-wing government” that has placed them within it. Israeli politics has already proven in the past that the Left camp knows how to exploit any crack and crevice to promote its world-view and realize its vision.

Therefore, we will to continue to call on our leaders to form a real strong right-wing government whose alternative would either be a clearly left-wing government or an unclear, Left-Right government without a distinct identity, or a right-wing government held hostage by an Arab party – these alternatives are extremely dangerous for the future of the People and the state.

Come!

Entitled “Come”, we have published an article calling on the right-wing public to call for unity among the leadership in a dignified and appropriate manner, and not with wild and almost violent attacks, as we saw this week at the demonstration near MK Elkin’s residence.

Baseless accusations against leaders such as Ze’ev Elkin and Gideon Sa’ar, as if they were leftists, are not only unfounded accusations that have no basis and distort the reality; they also distance us from the possibility of the unity that we all desire.

With Jonathan and esther Pollard at Joseph’s Tomb

This week, we took part in an extremely touching and historic event, the visit of Jonathan and Esther Pollard at Joseph’s Tomb. We rejoiced together with Jonathan in the exciting presence of someone who has been coming to many places in the Land for which he sacrificed so much and for whom no part of the miracle of the State of Israel is taken for granted.

The visits to Joseph’s Tomb arouse the complex emotions. The very essence of Jews visiting to pray at this holy place arouses a sense of joy and pride. The IDF’s augmented presence in the streets and alleys of Nablus during the visit, both before and after, also is gratifying; however, the very need for such enhanced security reminds us that there is still a long way to go until the application and implementation of Israeli sovereignty in our Land and its holy sites. However, in this visit, we chose to focus on the glass half-full and the joy inherent in the special event that we had the privilege of attending.

Jonathan and Esther Pollard and those who prayed with them participated in the ceremony of entering a Torah scroll into the tomb compound and in the touching remarks spoken by Pollard during the event, he expressed confidence and faith that this scroll would be read forever at Joseph’s Tomb, since the entire Land belongs to us.
