The current coalition has led the way to the regularization of young communities and to an overwhelming vote against a Palestinian state. MK Rothman is convinced that sovereignty legislation is approaching.
Sovereignty legislation is much closer than it appears. This was essentially announced by Knesset Member Simcha Rothman in his speech to participants of the 7th Youth for Sovereignty Conference held in Sderot.
In his speech, Rothman told of the bill pending n the Knesset, waiting for the right moment when it will be proposed and establish the application of sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. In his remarks, he praised the work of Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar, co-heads of the Sovereignty Movement, and spoke about the sovereignty vote in the committee where the decision was accepted with zero opponents and with the mobilization of all Knesset members - even those who knew that the majority was assured, but felt an ethical need to come and vote in favor.
"A large majority in the Knesset wants sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, and this is the result of years of work and thanks to the energies that you, the youth, bring to every corner and every street with information booths," Rothman said, recalling previous legislative moves that served as the platform for this decision, for example, the Knesset's opposition to establishing a Palestinian state - a decision that won a majority of eighty Knesset members who determined that a Palestinian state will not be established and will not exist, while the only ones who came to vote against were members of the Arab parties. "The people of Israel vote with their feet, hands, and heart and say that there will not be a Palestinian state, and now we all together say what will be - what will be is sovereignty and a Land of Israel that belongs to the people of Israel."
Rothman noted the presence of the CEO of the Yesha Council at the conference and his work to advance the vision, including in his previous role under the leadership of Minister Smotrich, who led the way to a new reality of fifty additional new community points in Judea and Samaria - more than all previous Israeli governments. The discussions around the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee drew all attention, and at the same time "Bezalel and Orit established facts on the ground before everyone woke up."
In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of the decision to return to Homesh and Sa-Nur as an expression of correcting the great injustice of the disengagement. Rothman expressed hope that this Knesset is also the one that will bring about the abrogation of the disengagement law from Gaza, which will lead to settlement and application of sovereignty.
