Dear friends,
Shalom and Greetings.

Along with the entire house of Israel, we embrace and console the Guetta family for the loss of Yehuda, hyd, who was shot by a terrorist at Tapuah Junction.

The People of Israel pays a painful and heavy price for living in its Land and indeed, the response that we all must demand from the Israeli leadership for the price that we pay in blood is to strengthen and fortify our hold and the People of Israel’s sovereignty in its Land.

Yehuda, hy"d, lived with a healthy sense of natural nationalism, as one of the People of Israel living in its Land.

We must internalize this spirit in ourselves, to travel throughout our Land without fear or anxiety, to live with a blessed sense of security and strengthen our sovereignty, which will also bring about the end of terrorism, which rears its head whenever it senses temporary moments of weakness in the People of Israel.

“He will swallow up death for ever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of His people will He take away from off all the earth” Isaiah 25:8).

Jerusalem is the source of our greatest joy

This coming week we will celebrate Jerusalem Day, commemorating the unification of the Eternal City, the Jewish People’s capital.

The Arab enemy understands well the centrality of Jerusalem and it focuses its battle there.

The arch terrorist Mohammed Deif broke a long silence to encourage the Arabs of Jerusalem to escalate the terror now in the streets of sovereign Jerusalem where flags of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hamas flags and Islamic Jihad are flying, with calls for the destruction of Israel in the air.

In the face of all this, the Israeli leadership is silent and does not provide a sovereign and resolute response.

A false sense of threat paralyzes the law enforcement bodies, who do not act to remove the disgrace from Jerusalem’s streets and prefer to watch from the side, out of the baseless hope that if we just restrain ourselves and contain the problem, it will disappear by itself.

Restraint and laxness, as the last hundred years of history have proven, only provide terror with a tailwind. The Israeli leadership must wake up and respond quickly and effectively, to prove Israel’s sovereignty in Jerusalem to itself and to the world.

Simultaneously, there must be a deepening of awareness about the connection between the People of Israel and its capital, and here too, Israeli leadership must lead proudly and unapologetically.

Only a government with a clear and resolute ideological backbone can take these essential steps and it must do so. A paralyzed government, composed of right-wing, left-wing and Arab parties will not convey these messages that are essential to the future of Jerusalem and the future of Israel as a whole.

Tzadikim in the neighborhood  of HaTzadik

The Arabs are focusing their terrorist battle in the neighborhood of Shimon the Tsadik and other Jewish neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city.

Unfortunately, the police are shown to be helpless against them, and the great fear is that the ineffectiveness of the policemen and officers stems from higher political bodies, who fear escalation and inflaming the public mood.

This distorted approach only increases the rioters’ appetite and their hopes of pushing the Jews out of the holy city only grows stronger.

But the pioneering residents of the neighborhoods of Shimon HaTzadik, The Mount of Olives, Nof Zion, Kidmat Zion and others, are standing strong against all of this.

Continuing the routine of their daily lives, having their children continue going to educational institutions, continuing to go out and return from work, continuing to live there, building and deepening the Jewish presence in the eastern part of the city, form the resolute and correct Zionist response to the waves of terror.

Our hearts are with them; we encourage them.

However, we remember, and we will not forget, that focusing the Arab battle on the neighborhoods of Shimon HaTzadik is just a temporary focal point, stemming from the hope to cause a crack in the Israeli position on our rights to Jerusalem. But the Arab aspiration is to push out the Jewish presence entirely and any sign of Jewish sovereignty from our eternal capital.

The Israeli leadership must internalize the importance of the appropriate, resolute and immediate response to these attacks. Only in this way will terror be halted and the Arab hope to push us out of Jerusalem be ended.

The “Artzi” (My Land) convention is approaching The youth take to the streets

The “Artzi” youth conference is approaching and in preparation, members of Sovereignty Youth set out this week in an integrated hasbara campaign at a number of locations throughout the Land, among which are Acre, Nahariya, Jerusalem, Sderot, Rehovot and many others.

Members of the movement set up hasbara booths and met with citizens from the entire political and civil spectrum in Israel, with discussions on the importance of the application of sovereignty in Judea and Samaria as well as ways to implement the vision.

Members of the movement set out in the task with the sense of mission, of those who understand well the Zionist task of the present generation, the mission of sovereignty.

They experienced a sense of great satisfaction from meeting with the citizens of Israel. Questions indeed did arise, but it seems that the idea of sovereignty has been well inculcated within Israeli society, so that the focus is not in the question of “if”, but rather of “how”, and we will deal with this extensively in the approaching conference, which will be entitled The Jordan Valley First.

Behind the scenes of the Trump plan

In his very fascinating and disturbing lecture as part of the Friday at Oz veGaon Lecture Series, the director of YESHA Council and head of the Jordan Valley Council, David Elhayani, spoke of the political and ideological reasons that led him to publicly oppose the Trump plan.

In his lecture, Elhayani takes us behind the scenes of what occurred at the White House, to his decision to come out with a public declaration exposing the hidden goals behind the plan and the struggles and criticism that he suffered as a result.

There  is no way of knowing what and how events would have turned out, had David Elhayani not taken the steps that he did, but there is a significant chance that were these steps not taken, we would already be in the midst of a Palestinian state being built, Heaven forbid.

Bar Kochba in Gush Etzion

The terrible tragedy at Meron diverted our attention from Lag Ba’Omer, from the battles led by Bar Kochba.

As part of the Friday at Oz veGaon Lecture Series, we also heard an erudite talk by Gadi Heimov, an instructor at the Kfar Etzion Field School, on Bar Kochba’s wars in the area of Gush Etzion.

Hebron: Sovereignty in Practice, Challenging Oslo
Yehudit Katsover and Nadia Matar

It is an important step in challenging the Oslo Accords through the assumption of responsibility, the exercise of authority, and the establishment of facts on the ground. Hebron demonstrates that what was transferred under Oslo can also be reclaimed.
